SimbaPay, a digital money transfer provider based in Kenya, has announced the launch of a product which will allow users outside Kenya to make M-Pesa PayBill payments.

Before now, the M-Pesa PayBill service was only available to Safaricom subscribers living in Kenya.

"Our customers want to pay vendors in Kenya faster and without having to go through friends and family”. This new product allows them to do just that, especially for time sensitive payments such as those to hospitals, stock brokers and the like”, said Nyasinga Onyancha, CEO SimbaPay.

Kenyans living abroad. will now be able to use their bank accounts, debit or credit cards, to pay their bills back home using the SimbaPay app. The service is piloting in the UK, with further expansion into other EU regions in the works.

Back in May, SimbaPay launched a similar service that allowed  free transfers to bank and mobile money accounts in Nigeria, from the UK.
