Photo sharing service Instagram recently announced that it now has more than 400 million active monthly users, a huge leap from 300 million the Facebook owned service achieved just 9 months back.

"Our community has evolved to be even more global, with more than 75 percent living outside of the US. To all the new Instagrammers: welcome! Among the last 100 million to join, more than half live in Europe and Asia. The countries that added the most Instagrammers include Brazil Japan and Indonesia." The Instagram team said.

This is definitely good new for both the company and the advertisers who have started flooding the photo service with ads since the launch of Instagram ads, as many thought the ads would scare people off the network.

The new numbers has showed how fast Instagram has grown since its inception even surpacing social network giant,  Twitter which has about 316 million active users.
