LG yesterday announced the rollout of Android Marshmallow 6.0 update to its flagship LG G4 smartphone uses in Poland, starting next week. Europe, Asia and the Americas will follow shortly after.
This move will make the LG G4 the first non-Google phone to receive this update. An official statement from the OEM highlights some of the custom features the update will ship with:
- Permissions have been simplified with greater control of the information applications can access, not only at the installation stage but any time
- Silent feature for sound and vibrate mode as well as a Do Not Disturb mode to block all sounds or only alarms and notifications
- Doze Mode which shuts down background processing of certain apps when the phone is not in use, to significantly prolong battery life.
LG has in the past proven to be one of the most consistent in providing timely OS updates to basically all classes of phones in the companies repertoire. While there is no official mention of when the updates might be rolling out to Africa, we know based on past experiences that the continent has never been excluded.
