eCommerce trends in Nigeria in one Infographic

eCommerce in Nigeria has grown tremendously over the last 5 years. With such unparalleled growth in so short a time, it has become an object of research. To smooth the terrain and make for better understanding of the market, studies and researches have been undertaken. Even estimated speculations have come into play somewhere along the line.

Kaymu, as a major player in the eCommerce space recently put together a white paper after months of research. The paper titled “E-commerce in Nigeria: Market Trends and Consumer Behavior”  is very detailed as Kaymu had obtained useful consumer product information and product perception through administering questionnaires as well as getting personal with focus groups to dig deeper into their preferences and habits.

Contained in it are detailed sub categories of an introduction, demographics, online consumer behavior, acquisition and conclusion.

It detailed percentage of users by their ages, gender distribution and also the top product categories in the eCommerce market place. It is said that Nigerians access the internet more on their mobile devices than the computers, and this infographic just showed that down to detail. Various channels via which eCommerce gets traffic were also not left out in this detailed graph. As search engines, social media and display channels were outlined with search engines taking the lead surprisingly as the rise of social media influence would leave one with the impression that Facebook, Twitter and the likes would top the list as drivers of traffic.
