Django Girls is a non-profit organization that empowers and helps women by organizing free, one-day programming workshops by providing tools, resources and support. It was started in Berlin last year, but has managed to spead all around the world.
Their goal is to bring more amazing women into the world of technology by making technology more approachable and creating simple tools and resources to achieve the desired end.
As part of the drive, the one-day programming workshop has finally berthed in Lagos, and it is free for selected participants.
There is no need to have a foreknowledge of programming or anything of the sort, all you need is a laptop and a learning heart.
Applications closes on January 24, 2016 and early birds are encouraged as the slots available are just few, so the sooner you apply, the higher the chances of getting into the program. Even those outside Lagos are accommodated in terms of transportation to and from Lagos and feeding is also available for the whole period. Amazing!
Django Girls will notify applicants of the status of their applications on January 30 or sooner as workshop proper takes place on the 20th of February, with a pre-installation party, where participants will get all the required software ready for the workshop and also meet with their coaches and group members.
The event is organized by Aisha Bello a tech enthusiast and 'Pythonista' with support from CcHub, Python Software Foundation, GitHub, django and The Nigerian Python Community
