If you've been longing for the world finals of the Microsoft Imagine cup in Seattle later in the year, it can't be any more exciting than what you're about to hear.

Having already unveiled a lineup of 35 student developer teams, from across the globe, that will compete for the coveted prize come July 26-29, Microsoft has added another level of excitement to the event by announcing two special guests to grace the stage on this eventful occasion.

Guess who they are?

John Boyega, lead actor from the movie, Star Wars (the Force Awakens), and Jennifer Tang. The duo will be on stage to help choose the next Imagine Cup Champion.

John Boyega will no doubt have movie loving fans following this year's edition of Microsoft Imagine Cup, however his inclusion may yet be greeted with mixed reaction having only starred in a handful of movies, with even less important roles, prior to his rise to prominence in the featured movie. Regardless, many who will be making it down to the venue on the day will be more than happy to have the star actor sign autographs for them or even take selfies with him.

Jennifer Tang on the other hand shares a contrasting prospect to John Boyega, as she’s certainly no stranger to Imagine Cup or to the tech space in general. She was part of the duo behind the 2014 Imagine Cup Champion, Team Eyenaemia (a non-invasive screening tool for anaemia) and is the co-founder of stat Innovations. She is currently a medical doctor at a tertiary trauma centre in Melbourne.

In a 58-second video recording posted on Microsoft’s blog, John Boyega said “As an actor, I work with special effects all the time. And the only thing more amazing than Hollywood movie magic is the passion and creativity of the students at the Imagine cup.”
