Yaba has been touted as the central hub of technology in Nigeria. However, in reality, this title is largely uncontested given that one has to look through a microscope to find a replica in other states across Nigeria.

This perhaps explains initiatives like the StartUP Friday in Abuja which is aimed at creating awareness and growing the startup community at the FCT.

Such is also the rationale behind Kaduna Startup Weekend.

The Kaduna Startup Weekend is a brainchild of Samaila Goje (team lead) and Yusuf Zakari with a sole mission to build and promote the Kaduna ecosystem which is supposedly nonexistent.

Samaila Goje runs Helpers Club to create co-working spaces and helps young entrepreneurs within the city to find office space, while Yusuf Zakari is the founder of Sufter -- an ICT company that helps entrepreneurs to creatively transform their ideas into minimum viable products (MVPs).

The closest thing to a tech gathering in this Northern region was a meetup that brought about a hundred people (which consisted developers, stakeholders and tech enthusiasts) together.

For the first time, Kaduna Startup Weekend will be hosting a hack series in the heart of Kaduna city for digital entrepreneurs, developers, designers and startups. "This will help create MVPs out of mere ideas," says Yusuf.

Registration for the Kaduna Startup Weekend is now ongoing.
