Have you ever gone to the cinema and left because you did not like the movies currently showing? For moviegoers, getting information about movies require a physical visit to the cinema or logging into the cinema's website. But when different cinemas are involved, or the websites do not have correct information, keeping up can be a real problem.
Enter Kolanuts
Kolanuts is an app that aggregates data from different Nigerian cinemas and tells the user movies currently showing, information about the movie, where it’s showing, and what time it’s showing. Kolanuts answers the three basic questions of the Nigerian moviegoer What Movie? What Time? Which Cinema?
The service also has an added feature that shows ratings from movie aggregation and review platforms IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.
Data from cinemas in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, are collected and aggregated so that it is easy to pick a movie and decide what cinema you want to watch it in and when.
Watchlist is an additional feature that lets the user add movies that are not yet in cinemas to their list, and it notifies them when the added movies are out in cinemas.
So you don’t have to keep shuffling between cinema sites to make your plans, seeing as that information is available in one place.
Kolanuts was launched on the 8th of September 2016 and is self-funded by its founders till date.
