Today's spotlight falls on two unknown startups that are seemingly making a mark in their separate space. Both are leveraging technology to reach out to their clients while at the same time delivering value.

Gidi Registry

Launched on the 3rd of October 2016, Gidi Registry is a free online gift registry with products suitable for weddings and baby showers. One may find it difficult relating with the site (like in my case) from a user experience angle at first. But once one begin to create registry as well as view those created by other users they'd quickly discover that Gidi Registry is what they would describe as a "wishlist", albeit for gifts.

Users register on the site by creating a registry from which they can then add products of their choice from different categories. Users can decide which gifts they would like to receive, avoid duplicate gifts or gifts you don't love.

Previously launched in 2015, the site was taken offline to revamp the user interface and negotiate with additional vendors to offer our customers better products and launched formally on the 3rd of October, 2016.

Recit

By allowing the transmission of digital receipts to customers free of charge, Recit is claiming to help entrepreneurs and SMEs properly record their sales and expenses.

recit

Recit is an online platform that allows entrepreneurs and SMEs properly record their sales and expenses as well as send e-receipts to their customers via email addresses.

This sales and expenses records can then be used to generate reports and projections which can be presented to banks and investors when seeking fund.

Recit's Tech Lead, Samwul Datong, believes that by helping SMEs to properly record their business related sales and expenses, they can increase their chances of securing relevant funding (small loans) from the bank as well as other sources of funding. More importantly, he thinks the idea of using free e-receipts services, is a smart way of allowing businesses further save cost.

The startup launched on the 14th of September, 2016.
