Dankoli is an online marketplace that seamlessly connects buyers and sellers via their mobile phones. Khaleed Oyewo (Founder) leads the team with Onyechi Kenechukwu as the CFO and Michael Mallo as the CTO.The free mobile app aims to revolutionise commerce in northern Nigeria by making it easy to do business anywhere within the region.

Launched on May 13, 2016, the Kaduna-based startup will be operational in the 19 northern states, with a focus on areas affected by insurgency.

According to the founding team, the insurgency in Nigeria has had a lot of socio-economic consequences (affected the way people do business), particularly in the North-East. And with a population of over 30 million (many of them having a lot to offer), distributed across the vast geographical areas in the north, they were prompted to develop a scalable platform that will facilitate trade within the region.

Recognising a competitor like Jiji, Khaleed Oyewo claims to be distinct by focusing on a mobile-first solution that comes with some AI-based vetting features and geolocation technologies with an easy-to-use user interface. This, according to the founder makes posting an item as easy as posting a selfie on social media.

While developing Dankoli mobile app we considered the masses which made us focus on a data independent app i.e. with or without internet, when a user connects online it sync using our location based technology to serve items within the user location. We are also considering the strategic integration of Facebook free basics so we can offer a 100% data free app. While we just launched our android version, we are currently working/debugging an iOS version that will be launched in coming months.

Moreso, the team is confident that enforcing geolocation technologies will make items to be posted in real-time and reduce chances of fraud. To further deliver on their value proposition, they claim to have made their app data independent. As a result, users can utilise Dankoli offline and sync when data is active.

In addition, the team will open their API to developers, so that they can use their pool of data to develop custom solutions -- a possible revenue generation model. Dankoli is a product of Leednetz Software Solutions which is an IT firm based in Kaduna, Nigeria.

If you are based in Northern Nigeria, you should try-out the mobile application.
