Enforcing the Nigerian labour laws

Just as Casey Percell put it, it’s not the responsibility of the government or the legal system to protect a citizen from himself. And it is on this basis that LawPàdí is taking up to get Nigerians educated about the laws of the land.

“Our aim is to educate the average Nigerian about their rights and duties by giving clear and easy to understand answers to questions about the law and how it affects their daily lives.”

Launched in July, the startup promises to offer free legal advice and information about every industry/sector of the economy, even including Family Law.

And in response to whether the platform would support evolving business, the founder, Babatunde Ibidapo-Obe affirmed “our focus obviously are individuals, but we will actively support fledgling and existing businesses who need quick information on their rights.”

LawPàdí’s Approach

Online Legal Query Service: the startup would provide free online legal query service which will allow people to make legal enquiries about issues relating to any industry or sector. On making an enquiry, someone from the LawPàdí would review and respond within a 24-hour window. There are also plans to reduce the response speed to a few hours.

Mobile Value Added Service: users can also subscribe to SMS service to receive weekly content on various topics and explaining the rights in the circumstances in the featured topic(s).

LawPàdí’s value proposition is the provision of well-researched legal information in quick, clear and concise works to the nation on everyday legal issues, and also providing free legal advice to people who request legal help.

And the SMS subscription is currently the only revenue model for the startups with the hope to exploit other revenue models for the business which are dependent on a number of factors.

At the forefront of the startup’s focus is providing answers to questions that the populace are facing in their everyday challenges by cutting through the legal jargons and get to the core of the issue for easy comprehension for anybody.

I see LawPàdí as a platform everyone especially startup founders, this is considering the importance of obtaining the right legal advice in the early stages of any company’s growth.
