Publiseer, a Nigerian digital publishing platform, featured on Techpoint 4 months ago, has emerged one of 14 finalists at the 2018 Harvard Business School’s New Venture Competition.
The digital platform was founded on August 4, 2017, by twin brothers Chidi and Chika Nwaogu with the aim to mitigate challenges encountered by Nigerian artistes and authors -- such as distributions and monetisation -- when publishing their works.
On March 2, 2018, the Africa Business Club at HBS will host the finals, alongside the 20th Africa Business conference under the theme “Values and Value-Chains: Africa in a New Global Era”, to showcase the diversity of entrepreneurs making a difference on the continent today.
From the pool of applicants, Publiseer, and 13 others will be pitching their businesses in front of approximately 700 attendees and then, receive feedback from a panel of experienced judges which include; Samuel Alemayehu of Cambridge Industries, Steven Steven Koltai of Koltai & Company, and Josh Sandler of Lori Systems -- which emerged winner at TechCrunch’s Battlefield Africa, 2017.
While the winner and runner-up of the competition goes home with cash prizes of $10,000 and $5000 respectively, all finalists will have the opportunity to participate in the Startup Lab -- a workshop where early-stage entrepreneurs can solicit advice from the conference participants, Harvard Business School faculty and students with experience in strategy, operations, finance, and other relevant business fields. They all will help startups to ideate and provide solutions to their pressing challenges.
While we congratulate Publiseer on this feat, it will be interesting to see what March 2nd holds for the digital publishing platform.
