Tanzania and Kenya are working towards a joint power project. The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) with Kenya's Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) are on board.

The project tagged 'Kenya-Tanzania Power Interconnection Project' and funded by a $258.82 million loan from the African Development Bank and the Japanese International Co-operation Agency has kicked into full gear.

According to The East African, the project which is slated for a 2020 completion date has been divided and contractors from both sides are working.

Kenya will also extend its transmission line to Ethiopia, while Tanzania will extend its line to Zambia.
