The news:

  • Clusterweb, a Tunisia-born and United Arab Emirates (UAE)-headquartered AI startup, has raised $600,000 in a pre-seed funding round from Karim Beguir, Cofounder and CEO of Tunisian InstaDeep, and other regional investors.
  • The company behind the Arabic audiobook summarisation app, Reedz, disclosed that the new investment will help accelerate its research and development endeavours, focusing on advancing its next-generation large language models (LLMs).

The potential advancement of these language models is expected to improve the company's natural language processing (NLP) capabilities, allowing it to enhance user experiences within its AI-powered products, such as Reedz, a mobile app that provides audiobook summaries of books, and Elm, an AI-driven learning app.

The development marks significant progress for Clusterlab, which is on a mission to reimagine how Arabic content is created and consumed by utilising the power of these models to make it more accessible and engaging for all its users around the globe.

Co-founded in Tunisia by Haithem Kchaou (CEO) and Chehir Dhaouadi (CTO) in 2020, ClusterLab offers artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language (NLP) technologies.

The AI firm claims commitment to using AI for societal and educational progress.

Previously, the company worked with InstaDeep, another AI startup that’s also an investor in this pre-seed round, on a national AI initiative for Tunisia's Ministry of Higher Education.

Clusterlab was also selected for the Nvidia Inception Program for AI startups.

Kchaou explains that the company’s expertise transcends the scope of what’s currently obtainable from large language models. He notes that Clusterlab pioneered harnessing the power of NLP to innovate content summarisation long before it became popular.

Expressing excitement for the future, Dhaouadi anticipates the remarkable potential of the next few months.

“We’re eager to showcase the depth of our technological advancements to the public, particularly through the large-scale deployment of our AI solutions,” he added.
